Stolen Vehicles --- BMW 600 and Isetta

It has recently come to the attention of The Isetta Owners Club of GB Ltd. (www.isetta-owners-club-gb.com) of the theft of a BMW 600 and an Isetta, both belonging to John Dobb.

John, who has been a long standing micro-car enthusiast and was collecting some vehicles in preparation for his retirement projects, had the BMW 600 and Isetta stolen from the same lock-up garage, on the 25th November 2009.

Although both the Police and DVLA are both fully aware of the thefts of both vehicles, at the time of writing, neither vehicle had been recovered yet. John is consequentially more than happy to circulate the details of these thefts around the various micro car clubs to warn others, and hopefully eventually recover them.

Details of thefts

Both cars were taken from a lock-up garage adjacent to some flats, in Telford.

The lock had been forced off the door and the lock taken away. A lady in an adjacent property overlooking the garage had spotted four dark skinned men loading the Isetta onto a yellow Ford transporter truck. Not knowing the owner of the vehicles, she spoke to the men believing them to be the owner(s)! This happened at about 11am. Approximately one hour later the men came back and loaded the BMW 600 onto the same yellow Ford Transporter! So, clearly the Isetta had not been taken very far away, allowing time for unloading and returning.

John only found about this incident a while later, when DVLA rang him up and asked him if he had the Registration Document for the Isetta, as someone else had applied for its Registration!

Fortunately, John does still have the original documents (not kept with the vehicles!), and the Police are currently investigating the person who made the application for the registration document.

It is sincerely hoped that both cars are kept complete, but if you are offered or see parts that could be possibly linked to the theft of these vehicles, please inform any of the The Isetta Owners Club of GB Ltd. Committee (see back of front cover of Gazette), who will pass the details on to John Dobb.

Sadly, a sobering lesson for all us micro car owners', in these times of recession!
